Runology is a puzzle strategy game in which you place randomly generated rune stones onto a board of squares, energizing the square on which the rune stone is placed. The goal is to energize the entire board.
Game strategy revolves around choosing exactly where to place each rune stone in order to maximize future move possibilities. You begin with a set of rune stones consisting of 5 symbols and 4 colors each (20 possible rune stones). Each new level adds either a new symbol or a new color, making matching more difficult as you progress.
Can you make it through Level 23 (23 symbols, 8 colors; 184 possible rune stones) and earn the title of Grand Master Runologist?
Good luck!

I don't mean to sound intolerable, but I find level 1 to be impossible 🙁. I don't think the tutorial prepared me enough only to see a blank tile and no possible moves to make. I've tried dragging runes around the board, but they won't seem to do anything. I've dragged way too many runes into the transmution circle and losing just trying to figure out what to do. Maybe I'm not doing something right? Maybe there's some sort of strategy I haven't figured out yet?

I need to add some info to the tutorial. 1. You don't have to have the board covered in stones to finish the level, you just need to energize all of the squares (turn them blue by having placed a stone on them at some point. 2. You can place stones on squares that you have already turned blue. 3. As you complete a row or column, the stones disappear, giving you space to work. Although don't get rid of too many, since you need stones on the board to place new ones next to. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I can't make it through level 1 😞. I tried three times, two of which I lost trying to fill the last tile. My last game I tried to use my blank tiles and destroying runes to make as many spots around the edges as I could so I would have spaces to use tiles towards the end of the game, but I ended up filling them all, and then the last gap was surrounded by two blank tiles, a red ><, and a blue >< (I don't know what the symbol is called, but it looks like overlapping > and <). I didn't get any >< tiles after getting 4, so I lost. Is there some strategy I'm not getting? The last few tiles always feel random to me...

You don't have to have rune stones on all of the squares at the end. You just need to activate all of the squares (turn them blue) by placing a stone on a square at least once. Filling up rows and columns removes the stones in the row or column, leaving the underlying squares blue and creating space to work with. I should make this more clear in the tutorial. Oh, and all of the stones are generated at random, so it's different each time you play. Hope that helps.

Wow, I did not realise I could place tiles on the blue squares once they were deleted. That makes the game so much easier.
